Calvary Baptist Church began as a mission of FBC Hendersonville and was originally named West Lafayette Baptist Church. What begin in a living room eventually moved from there to the National Guard armory and eventually a building across from the Welcome Center. In 2009 the church relaunched and changed its name to Calvary Baptist Church. In 2013 Calvary merged with New Life Baptist church and moved to its present location between Lafayette and Red Boiling Springs.
Calvary has adopted as its statement of purpose: The purpose of Calvary Baptist Church is to love God, to love one another, and to share that love with the world. How are we going to going to do that? We believe that a GREAT committment to the GREAT commision will build a GREAT church.
The Great Commandment
The Great Commandment: “Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart...soul...and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:Love your neighboras yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.’” Matthew 22:36-40
The Great Commission:“Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching themto obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
5 Areas of Commitment
From these two passages there are Five areas that Calvary is strongly committed to:
We believe that if we are committed to these five areas then God will grow a strong healthy church. Every ministry we have has as a foundation these five purposes. Come join us and grow with us!
